Undertow
Pummeled, pummeled by this ghastly feeling
To be alive for the moment
Then sunken in old ways
What was right is brought into question,
Then what's wrong remains a passive witness
Passion while glorious and awe-inspiring,
Is too a wretched servant,
And a cruel master.
The natural urge to breathe bows to silence,
A suffocating, creeping void containing whispers,
Voices of the future reflecting the past,
Loneliness the only familiar friend,
Finds newfound residence in this grim time.
To be alive for the moment
Then sunken in old ways
What was right is brought into question,
Then what's wrong remains a passive witness
Passion while glorious and awe-inspiring,
Is too a wretched servant,
And a cruel master.
The natural urge to breathe bows to silence,
A suffocating, creeping void containing whispers,
Voices of the future reflecting the past,
Loneliness the only familiar friend,
Finds newfound residence in this grim time.
