New Years Eve
I saw him on that winter's night
He stood outside, bathed in moonlight
I watched him from my balcony
He waited underneath a tree
He was quite handsome, it was clear
Part of me wished that I was near
I imagined walking up to him
And grabbing his arm just on a whim
He'd turn around so eager to see
He'd be so happy that it was me
I smiled and wondered if I should go
And meet this man I wanted to know
But before I did I saw her there
She walked towards him, tossing her hair
She reached him quick and they embraced
Her arms on his shoulders, his hands on her waist
He kissed her then, so soft and slow
And as they kissed it started to snow
A minute later, they decided to leave
In that final hour of New Years Eve
Now on this cold night I was alone
The first ever New Year all on my own
I closed my eyes and tried to forget
The handsome stranger I'd almost met
