Illegal Color
I saw the boy he was tall dark and slender

Though he did not threaten that man,

The boy felt he had to surrender.

No crime no insult nothing but mind on his own,

And the man sworn to defend the boy,

Showed the boy he was forever alone.

For the man had a deep planted seed,

That sprouted into something evil.

The boy had an innocent soul,

But his skin produced the color of illegal.

No judge no jury only these cold naked streets,

And the boy never even had a chance say 'help me,'

Before his head hit the hard concrete.

And the man went home and kissed his wife,

He tucked in his children,

And thanked God for his life.

But that night God greeted another soul,

And that boy's family had to plan a funeral.

For there was nothing they could do,

To bring the boy back.

He was slain in cold blood,

Because his skin was black.
