Lost Country
My country is a lost country
It’s lost not because it can’t be found
Because it has lost its potential claim on the name the African Giant
My country once flowing with peace and harmony
Is now struggling with security and over devalued money
And I wonder where we are going?

You should be informed that our stand as the African Giant
Was the result of the works of our light bearers
I mean the forerunners
Those that had put their lives on the line to outline what we, Nigerians, wanted for our lives
So that it should be what I should he
But where are we?

My country is not safe
It is not written on our forehead
But you should know that exercising your rights is at your own risk
There is freedom of speech but freedom after speech is not guaranteed
We are over 200 million but it’s ignorant to say we are in unity
Our ethnicity and religions have consequently brought conflict in ideology
A country where you are nobody if you do not have some connectivity
Tell me how long is this going to be?

Look I’ve not come here to lay solutions
Those that came before did and nothing changed
But to shed light on what I see as an administrative pollution
Or a virus if you prefer, just let us be on the same page
I didn’t want to say that we should let our voices be heard
Because those that did it 20/10/2020 didn’t go home without some falling dead
I didn’t want to say that let’s stand in the light
Because many that did soon faded out of sight
I didn’t want to say that we should acting dead
But I’m tired of making rhymes out my frustrated heart

But what I will say is, please, my fellow youth,
Let’s not be swayed off the positive changes we need for our lives.
