Sometimes I can hear the trees whisper your name

Other times I see it painted with the rain in the spot you used to park

I used to hate it but now I think of you when the neighbor’s dog barks

You loved him and gave him treats when you’d see them in the street

As soon as the sun goes down the crickets and the frogs they sing, like time was theirs to keep

I remember the nights those songs put us straight to sleep

In the mornings a different band would play, their songs just as sweet

The birds an easy favorite as they were yours

I guess it’s nothing major that we don’t talk anymore

I still have the whispers of nature to hold open that door
