Of Poets and Men
The Wandering Poet?...just had a nice ring to it
Made me feel like a shaolin monk in a Shakespeare outfit
To be or not ...copyright....
I wanna speak so deep it becomes a crime to say it how I did
To preach it like I preached it
To embrace our inherent nature
Gods in the likeness of men
Thunder and lightening in the strokes of our pen
Tears and laughter embedded in our ink
Reality coloured by the way we think
Dreams fashioned in the clay of our palms
And set free to soar like birds with a song
Whether they come back to us is unknown
All we know is that we tried
All we hope is that our words rise
High enough for you to see them
Deep enough for you to feel them
Years go by and we're still believing
That our words will transcend these pages
Burrow into the hearts of men and someday transcend feeling
That they would look past the witty wordplay and finally grasp the meaning
That it's more than what we could ever say
Our expression is merely a part
We compress what echoes deep within us
Into this thing we like to call art
