Amen
It struck me suddenly-
I was a man without faith.
Never troubled me,
nonchalant I walked
by church and temple,
they left no trace.
I can admire a painted ceiling,
well-crafted statue of a deity.
Power to turn water to wine
may somewhat sate me,
but there's no light inside,
won't compromise to fake
belief with no feelings.
Nothing below or above me.
Been judged enough, toughened up,
done with all the sanctimony.
There's no love, no love, no love,
no love lost - walk away
to be with our chosen flocks.
'Cause we found no meaning,
no healing and no, no, no gain.
