There's something about the dark - I feel safe
Get to know the speechless,
Get to know Garbo and Dickinson,
The best of the recluses:
Virgil, Proust, Lee and Pynchon.
There's something about the dark that makes me feel safe,
It readies me to something very familiar,
The silence and white noise I've known for years,
Keep me elated, let me meditate against my fears.
They say, "it's awfully lonely,
Awfully dangerous," to resign in perpetual solitude
Getting used to it shuts you from the beauty of the world;
People around, I say, "It's awfully stressful!"
Alone - I'm cool, calm, collected and beautiful.
A half empty room is more comfortable than a cluttered one;
More peaceful, seeing nothing but things that need to get done.
Fuck small talk! It's shrinking my brain.
I'm fine with my books - at least they have interesting things to say!
I kind of gotten to a habit of stopping...
