Hello, New School
Shiny shoes and brand new bag,
Butterflies erupt in a jag.
Lunchbox packed with treats so sweet,
But my tummy feels a nervous beat.
Big school doors, a towering sight,
Hallways filled with morning light.
Children chatter, voices high,
Will I find a friend, or just cry?
Teacher smiles, her voice so kind,
Seating chart, a place to find.
Crayons bright and paper white,
Learning songs with all my might.
Blocks to build, and paints to splash,
New words learned, a silly dash.
Recess bell, a joyful sound,
Swinging high, feet barely touch the ground.
Homeward bound, with stories to tell,
Of colors learned, and a magic spell.
First day jitters fade away,
School's an adventure, here to stay!
