Run Squirrels Run
This massacre was much worse then the purge before...
The killer sat quietly lurking in-between the breeze way
behind a paneled screened door.
Loaded pistoli armed and ready.
"Listen lady" It has to be done
Enough already!"
It was an easy kill as many come this time of year.
Family's from 3 and 4 generation gather here.
Every evening they come before sunset.
Grab a bite to eat and get their mouths wet.
An old fashion meet and greet.
Taking turns sipping water in the year round creek.
Shots rang out across the farm.
A lookout soldier sounds the alarm.
He falls dead head first from a deadwood tree,
but not before he lets out that warning scream.
A powerful chirp, to inform all the others.
Be careful my beloved sisters and brothers.
A sign that said no trespassing you will be shot dead. It was completely ignored was never read.
Elders, teachers, Mom's and Dad's all shouting Get down turn back.
Im afraid we're under attack!
The young were there in pairs of two. They were only there to learn what the elders knew.
A quiet hush caught up in the breeze as the wind was quick to silence the trees...
To make matters worse a Hawk was flying over head.
Both him and a coyote excited to see all the dead .
The killer a marksman top in his class, preparing to reload but dropped his brass.
Seizing the moment the young came from their retreat.
What they saw was hard to believe.
Carnage scattered amongst the trees.
Their little hearts racing it was hard to see.
A risk they felt they must take,
they tried to shake the elders awake.
Brave little soldiers deserve the purple heart.
Going above and beyond doing their part.
Saving the wounded pulling with all of their might
down in their holes away from
the line of sight...
