Elegiacs No. 9
In your anger, you reprove me, chastising me in
Fury. You heal not my soul, troubled as often it be.
In my death do I honor or worship who has destroyed me?
Wearily fall my tears; full are my ears from the noise.
If I have done some evil upon my friend, let him bind me.
If I have harm'd my foe, let it befall me in kind.
When I have loved you, forsaking myself, you've forsaken me. How much
Longer will I have to live, suff'ring inside of your house?
