There were boxes left in the attic
must be from the family before
I wonder what those people were like
I will go and ask the neighbours next-door.

The boxes were stacked so evenly
there must have been twenty two or more
I went and looked in the odd one or two
don't know what I was really looking for.

I thought I'd find some family secrets
or maybe an antique or two
but what if I found something horrible
Would I know what I was going to do?

I started with just a little box
there couldn't be much inside
but if anything jumped out at me
I was going to run away and hide!

It's was just filled with drawings and letters
photographs and albums alike
there's was also a postcard of a gentleman
riding a vintage penny farthing bike.

It wasn't only boxes that was up there
there was an old steamer trunk
it was just filled with family nik naks
but to me it's was just a box full of junk.

And that's when I spotted the picture
I couldn't really believe my eyes
what with the signature being real
and the frame being the right size.

That's when I started shaking suddenly
and sat down quickly on the floor
I needed to share this great information
with the family who lived here before.

That artwork sold at a very nice price
and I got a generous share
the attic is now a very smart spare room
With a roll-top bath and rocking chair.
