I'm always the second choice, the runner up, the backup plan.
I'm never the first pick, the winner, the one who stands tall.
I'm always the bridesmaid, never the bride.
I'm always the friend, never the lover by their side.
I try to smile, and say I'm fine,
But deep down I know, I'm always last in line.
It hurts to know I'm not the one they want,
It's hard to keep going, when I always come up short.
