If what we search for on this earthly plane
Is Love, an ideal that seemed once attainable,
Sadly, such love has grown so rare to find
That faith in it feels eternally amiss.

For modern love has left our hearts estranged –
Forced to accept a version that's all wrong.
Unnatural needs and wants will fill the page
Where love should write a song deep, sincere and strong.

Insisted upon, yet never fully found;
A love pure and precious that seems lost perchance.
Forced relationships are destined to rebound
As expectations remain in a trance.

The ideal of Love, so sought by all, seems dim;
For the Love we seek is much harder to win.
