1st Case - The Box
Author note: This is for practice only, been out with a cold the past few days. I think that's why I lost partly my ability to use imagery, so I worked really hard in this one. Even if its a prompt. Hope you like it. Oh and also, all the events are fictional. Just pure fantasy. 😉

The scoffing heard from the halls. Slowly pacing in, sweat dripping.. Cold sweat, Cold mist. But quicker.. Grabbing the box laid at the front porch of the apartment... I was anxious..

No one would expect receiving such a mail this early at 5 am... But sure enough.. It was big. The size of my two legs, but to my surprise when lifted. It was light...

My heart started pounding, hard. What the hell? How? Why is it light? With the box this big?

Oh yeah, the address slip. Someone might have sent this as joke, I thought to myself very carefully. It gave me a sense of relief as I looked at the slip, smiling. I wanted to cry... It was what it is, empty..

My chest started pounding again, this time more harder. Then I realized, I was sweating more than I should..

"Mr.Kleins?" At that voice, I jumped. Dropping the box, with a loud crack! What really is in that thing? I wanted to curse, but the landlady might notice something off... This isn't good... I need to distract her...

"Oh y-yeah, Ms.Pots. What a lovely moon we have today!"

That was when I remembered, the current time as it has obviously NO moon, at 5 am. Also I already see her doubtful eyes digging through the box. But what's more surprising is ,she only smiled. Looking back to me like a mother that found his son's dirty magazines.

"But you know, you should have told me that this was one of your secrets."

In a quarter of a second, The box screamed a louder crack. When Ms.Pots forcefully kicked the hell out of the box.. My eyes stung wide open, as I still haven't seen the contents of the said box.

Maybe I was feeling guilty? I don't know.. But It felt like a string of needles pierced my chest all at once.

"Don't kick it!" I screamed angrily at Ms.Pots but I meant no harm. My point is, you shouldn't be touching other people's things without permission...

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do that."

"Please don't ignore what you just did Ms.Pots."

"And what Paul, what are you gonna' do? Hit me?"

It was at that time I tried to be brave, But in reality. I wasn't. I couldn't stop her from circling around my neck, and her punching the tongue inside my mouth.

My head spun rapidly, my legs felt like gel. Melting heavily at the mercy of an 25 year old woman whom I never had a relationship with... She was an absolute madman.

But I ain't picky. It was hot, and the burn lasted 20 minutes of pure bliss. I have no idea what she's trying to do. But to hell with it.

"My room, 201. After you take care of your personal matters."

"Wait what?"

She was rushing, before giving me another kiss, and giving me another warning to take to heart.

"If you don't come. I'll kill you."

"But we're not-"

"Hush, anything wrong with that?"

"N-no, but-"

"That's fine, you don't want to?"

"N-no! I meant-"

"Just do what I say, here. Take your box"

Pots, hastily picked up the box and forced me inside my room. It was painful. Just seconds later, a click was heard inside the room.

That was me, locking the door. To further stop the inconvenience... But moreover, that was more than unexplainable. She was seductive, and mysterious.

I might have to watch out for her, she might be dangerous... No one in the right mind would kiss a random stranger without having a few screw loose in the head.

But back to the box. I can finally breathe, when I'm inside my room. I was thankful that it is now this private, as I can thoroughly investigate this piece of junk without the hassle.

Both excitement, Curiosity, and the sense of danger throbbed my humanity. When suddenly a memory came flying by that took place a few weeks ago..

I was sweating again.... It was the box I ordered from the undergrounds.

It really does exist, and with that. All my worries was washed away. I quickly teared the box open and find what I have expecting the last few days.

"It's perfect..."

I said without thinking much more deeper to it. I was smiling...

It was a very nice gift from my late wife, Rebecca. Some instructions were given in how to use it but it was obvious. I just have to hang it just below my shelf, and it quickly transforms to a halloween decoration.

A head decoration, That's what it is... I love it...
