The Girl I Found On the Road

She stood across the road and stared at the vehicles passing in front of her. She was so poised and graceful. A face that reflects godly beauty. Her eyes were forest green. She had the cutest nose. The people who passed by did not seem to mind her as they had their own business to handle. Moreover, she did not care if they cared. She focused on staring. She looked lost from the outside. But her inner self told her fresh content every minute. After fifteen minutes, she is still where she was. Staring the road. She looked stone dead. The only thing a man could ever say to confirm that she is not dead was because she was standing. Of course, everybody knows, not a dead man stands in the edge of footpath staring the road, not even minding the vehicles that are passing by. Any man who ever noticed her could say that she was at least 29-year-old working lady. She was wearing an expensive coat and a million-dollar bag.
That’s when he came. He was definitely 30 or 31. He was the perfect example for a man. A gentleman. Grey suit and board shoulders. His eyes were vividly similar to the shining blue ocean. His jawline was just perfect. She was gentle and strong just at sight. He stopped when he saw her. He was unexpectedly smitten by her. He asked her why she was standing there. She turned her expression to face him. She looked at him with amaze hidden deep in her eyes. But strangely it wasn’t had for him to find it. He said gently:
“ Let me get you a cup of coffee?”
Her expression was unreadable. She looked at him. He waited to hear her voice. But she did not talk. His waiting was all in vain. His excitement turned down by a bit. But he wasn’t ready to give up yet. He held out his hand.
“Come with me. I know a good coffee shop just nearby.” He gave her a warm smile.
She felt strangely comfortable. She felt his hand. He held them close and protected it from any possible harm. Her hands were cold. But his hands were warm. They walked silently through the streets. He was very amused by the woman whose hand is within his hands. The cold in her hands is unusually pleasant. She was strange. Really strange. Who is this lady? Why is she so odd? She seems to wear good clothes. Or clothes of his standards. They reached the coffee shop. He found a good seat beside the full glass window facing the street. He placed her hand on the table to let go. But she wasn’t ready. She held on to it. Tightly. He smiled again. She looked deep into his blue eyes again. Unknowingly she was getting lost in them. He said:
“ I will get you a Cappuccino. You can let go now.”
She looked into her eyes again and kept on looking for a minute longer. He took his other hand and took her hand off his and walked away to order the coffee. He turned and walked to the counter. The lady there greeted him:
“Good Evening Mr Knight.”
“Good Evening, Marie.” He curved his lips into another smile which he gives to most of his clients. “Will you please give me a cup of Cappuccino and my regular?”
“Sure.” Replied Marie. “You know were to pay the money, don’t you?” she smiled.
“Yes. I will be right back! Thank you for reminding.” He said and walked off to the billing counter. She sat there and stared at the streets. She really was a weird woman.
He collected the drinks and walked back toward the table. He gave her a drink and he took her. She stared at it for a second. Then she slowly lifted it to her like and took, a sip. He wwatched her intently, with awe.
“May…… “ before he could complete the sentence, a woman came near her and hugged.

“Ava,” the old woman with worn-out clothes said.
“Baby, run away like this. Mama was scared.”
She worn-out the old lady worn-outed her back. He heard her for the fifirst time.
“Mama, Baby is here. Don’t worry. Baby will take you home. “
Her voice was sweeter than honey. He was deeply smitten than he already was. The woman turned to him.
“I am very sorry if she caused you any trouble.” She said. He stared at both the woman in front of him. He was so amused.
“Wait.” He said wanting to know something.
“Can you tell what’s happening?
The old lady sat on the seat beside her daughter.
“My name is Lucy. This is my daughter Ava. She is infected with a brain tumour. She is affected by Alzheimer’s like an effect. She doesn’t remember what she thought the moment before. Sometimes she walks on her own. Wanders around the streets. The doctor said that this tumour is in a really bad condition and she will only live for a couple of months. You might be thinking about the clothes. It’s her last few days. We are trying to give her everything. We are just a working-class family. So I and my husband has to make some sacrifices. Please don’t ask anything or do anything on this.” She said and left.
He was so shocked by the story. Usually isn’t so thunderstruck when he listens to such story. She sat there motionless, staring at he old lady and her daughter who is now walking out of the open door.
