Censor on Senses
A lad was knocking the door of an office. He was very excited and was floating in thoughts that he didn't listen to welcoming voice from inside, and he continued knocking. The man inside the office felt irritated by that impingement, so he ran towards the door and opened it to threaten the person outside. But by seeing the lad out;
'Oh, my kid, you are there! I thought, who is that mischievous?' He added, 'But why are you striking door from so long?'
'I am sorry, uncle, but I didn't hear your voice.'
'Obviously, you wouldn't have because your mind is somewhere else. You are knocking door from so long and that too with something metallic.'
'Oops, sorry, uncle. But you know what?'
'Yes, say what?' Uncle asked him with a child-like curiosity to show that he is taking an interest.
The boy ran into the office and sat on a chair. He started speaking by revolving on the chair. 'I am so happy, uncle!'
Uncle came inside the office and sat with an exclamation mark on the face and asked. 'Wouldn't you like to share that with your uncle?'
'Obviously, so only I have come here. Uncle! I have been selected as a representative from my school at the World Essay Competition!!!'
'It is really great news, dear. Big opportunity. Congratulations!'
'Yes, a very special one. One day I will be the best writer like you.' He said with the stars in his eyes. He was touching the table of the office with an urge to earn it one day. He was looking at his uncle, who was busy writing his own works. He was looking so happy that this competition has opened the door of opportunities to him. He started dreaming that his essay has been selected as the best essay, and he is reading his name published in the newspaper.
'Hey, where you lost?' The elderly man said by weaving his hand in front of his face.
Uncle, how a world's best essay can be written? Can my essay get selected and published as number one?'
'Why not?' Uncle said with assurance. 'Anything can be possible in this world. You need to focus on the content and message of your essay.'
'I will do it very passionately. But you will have to help me. This is my order.' He said with sweetness.
'Okay, sir. Any more orders? Now can I do my work, my future writer?'
'Yes, uncle, that's all for now. But I will meet you soon with a concept.'
'All the best beta. Always remember that this pen is mighty. It can create destiny. A writer is a person who can bring change in society. It's proud to be a writer, and I am proud of you that you want to be a writer. I am sure you can do this. Do well.
'It was very motivational of you. Thank you, uncle. Now without disturbing you, I am going. Bye-bye.' He said by waving hand.
'Bye.'
******
'Hello uncle,' the boy said excitedly, 'I guess I have completed my essay. You have a look at it and tell me how it is and if any correction required, do let me know.'
'Oh, so my junior writer completed the essay very fast, huh. Very impressive, I am pretty sure that you would have written very accurately with a nice message woven inside it.' He further asked.
'What is the topic of your essay?'
'It's...The Peace and Prosecution.'
'Okay, sounds amazing! Show me your essay.'
He handed the pages to his uncle, and with preoccupied proud, he started looking at him. He thought after reading it, he would get pat on his back for this. So, he started closely observing him.
"Peace - a virtue that a person is tempted to it either by listening about it or by feeling it. A mind always seeks peace for security, for happiness, for living in the present. But peace has always been a controversial aspect for humankind. It's marketed like anything. Someone who knows that human species strongly urge for peace can do anything for that - anything. They can do which is exactly opposite to peace.
There shouldn't be any country or a man that powerful who can manipulate the condition of peace on their requirement. There shouldn't be, but there is. They want to keep the state of war amongst everyone to divert the attention of people. They want economical and power benefits. They get it very successfully because they know how much fragile thing peace is.
One country that does the same for being as a superpower, the world leader, the solution specialist - What you will call it? I would call it the USA. It has encouraged a lot of terrorism in the package of peace for the sake of their security. It has indulged in tracing secure personnel detail of people around various countries on the name of peace and security. The event of hitting two nuclear bombs was the demand for peace or killing of humanity? There are many more countries like it that have done the same as Russia, UK, etc. They like to be the center of power.
Who will prosecute the case of peace in court of humanity?"
He was trying to mark every facial expression of his uncle while reading it. He was quite hopeful about getting pat on his back for his work. He had done a very tough job for it from reading articles of history, non-fictions, social media, and a lot of research work.
'My boy, what you have written? This is nonsense.' By listening to this, he was aghast. He tried to recover himself from shock, and with a lot of courage and fake smile on the face, he asked, ' You are kidding. Right, my sweet uncle?'
'Oh, dear god! What I should tell this boy? 'After some pause, he asked, 'Okay. What is your age? How you found out such critical points? From where you found this nonsense stuff?'
'Please, don't say such. I have done a lot of work on this. What is the problem with this? Tell me.'
'You are so young to understand all these. So please don't argue with me and please find another topic of your age. This is a young fellas' competition, so write something gaudy, not such gritty things. Okay?'
'But why?' The lad was puzzled by thinking that what he has done, which is so objectionable.
'Why did you highlight the USA there?'
'So, you mean to say if I put another name, it would be better?' He was still surprised and was trying to be normal.
'Maybe you can change it with Russia. Okay, no-no, don't write Russia even. Now we may need their support for our empowerment at the global level.'
'So, you mean to say we have to write taking care of everything. Who loves us? Who doesn't love us? Who supports us? Who doesn't? Who are powerful? Who are not? Uncle! Can't anyone write independently? Can't anyone write whatever one feels like writing?' He started being more impatient with questions in his mind.
'Look, son! I am just telling you not to indulge in this type of stuff. Please think about writing on another topic.'
'What is the problem with this uncle?'
'Calm down, son. Okay. Do you have any other topic in your mind?' He tried to talk about another topic to divert his mind from the first topic.
'Yes, I had so many topics in my mind ...'
'Like?' Uncle interrupted to make him speak fast.
'Like, Pros of Global warming - An illusion from industrialist.'
'Okay. Another?'
'Oh, yes. It's Digital security: An Ashley Madison way.'
'Well, next?'
'Woman empowerment: A reality or marketing strategy.'
'Anything else?' He asked, reluctantly.
'Uncle, I had thought about these couple of ideas only, from that I found this Idea to be worthy present in front of everyone, and I guess that is what a real writer does.' He said firmly.
'Real writer. You know what real writers do? How do they feel?'
'Either you write whatever you feel for society and live in darkness. Live objectionable life with a lot of controversies and what not. Or write what society wants to read, what they like by censoring your senses, and you will be the famous, successful, and top writer.' Uncle spoke with stress on every word of him.
'But this is just competition. Why the USA might have a problem? They might not have it. I am sure that it's just we- who are thinking about this way. If it's right that that country is feeling insecure, then my essay is exactly right. If it is not right, then why they will care about my words? It's simple.'
'You, the younger generation is hard to fight with logic. I can't beat your logic.' He was speaking unwillingly. He was thinking inside, 'What to do? I tried to explain everything, but this kid is not ready to accept it. His other topics also are looking weird to me. Maybe I am wrong. But maybe there can be a danger too. It's hard to forget what happened to when I wrote a book on the world's powerful people. How to explain this kid? He got stars in his eyes. I can't discourage him.'
'Okay. You give me your essay. I will check about typos and errors and then will send it to the competition.' He said with a substantial smile on his face. By listening to this kid became happy and bang his fist on the table said 'Yeah!' He stood up and clutched hand and said, 'Thank you so much! You are my sweet uncle.'
'Welcome, my sweet boy. I was just a little concerned about you, that is it. You can go now.'
He started walking towards the door. The elderly man shouts from behind, 'Hey, my child. The USA neither is a bad country nor is your thoughts are wrong. Maybe I was skeptical.'
'Okay, uncle. Now I will be waiting for the day of the result. You are going to congratulate me first. That's the deal. Okay?'
'Cent percent deal.' He said by waving his hand.
**********
It was one and a half months for the result day. It was a hard time to wait, but his uncle had told him on call once that he is going to get an iPad day before the result and asked him to open the result in a brand-new iPad. He was thinking that uncle might feeling guilty for what he said and afterward realized it and decided to gift him something.
Days were getting passed one after one, and excitement was one level high when he got a brand-new iPad.
The next day he opened the box and took iPad out of it. He started it at 9:55 am. Seconds were passing, and it was 10:00. Result announced.
'Winner of the World Essay Competition is a boy from India named Sumit Rajan for his wonderful topic - Peace and Possibilities.'
'Mom, it's me!!' He shouted tremendously, but when he focused, his voice got fade. 'Wait, this is not my topic.' But he tried to convince himself, 'It may be misprinted. Let me read my own essay.'
He clicked on the link to open his own essay.
They can do which is exactly opposite to peace...' Oh, this is my essay only. So, there is some typo in the title. I thought that only.' He started reading further.
"... But there is an ample amount of possibilities lie for peace in the world. It can altogether change the world. Same as technology, peace is the terminology that is affecting and going to affect every single life on earth. To turmoil terrorism on earth, peace is the only possibility. We should support every leader who works on this idea. Every country should support world leader countries like the US, UK, Russia, and China in this movement. We are very grateful to those counties for their activism towards peace in the world.
I expect that every developing country will join this movement and increase possibilities of peace for upcoming generations."
His eyes remained open shocked when he completed another part. 'Why it has been altered? Okay. I understood.'
The screen of the iPad was slowly getting time out. A drop of tear fell on it, and it became black. The tear was saying to him, 'Despite winning, you lost!'
