The Little Girl
Two men conversed on the side of the street, sitting on the ground leaning on a dumpster. They wore tattered clothing."A little girl, maybe 5 or 6 came up to me today." The older-looking man told his friend."She gave me this." He pulled a 10$ Bill from his pocket. The younger man smiled and said "Should be enough for food." The older man continued "The Little Girl also told me she would bring us some blankets later if we meet her at the store later."
The other man stood up. "Let's head out and get them then," He smiled.
After waiting about 20 minutes, a black van pulled up. The little girl hopped out of the van excitedly, two small blankets in hand. She gave the men each one of the small blankets, holding it up as high as she could because of her small size. The younger man bent down and took her hand gently, "Thank you so much, kid." he said. "Don't worry, mister. I know your struggling, but do you know what else I know?" The older man, bending down as well, softly asked the girl"What's that?" The Little Girl smiled, "I know you can get through this, don't lose hope, okay?" Her mom opened the passenger window "Okay, Jessica! Time to go," Jessica Smiled at the men and ran over to the car before realizing she was too short to open the door. She chuckled, "Could you Help please..?" She looked at the men. The younger man went and opened the door for her. The mother called them over to the passenger window to talk. "I hope you guys get in a better Situation soon," She said while rummaging in her purse. "There it is!" She mumbled before looking up handing them each a 20. "Get what you need." She then closed the window and drove off.
