Royal Embrace
"It has always been like this," Skylia said to herself as she looked up at her family.

The crowd was so noisy as they shouted, "Kill her!" "Kill that monster!" "She threatened the royal family!" "Yeah! She deserves to die!" People surged towards Skylia, throwing rocks at her.

She didn't say anything and endured the harsh words and wounds to her body while blood dripped, staining her clothes. She just looked up at her father, the emperor, her stepmother, the empress, and her stepsiblings.

Her eyes and heart yearned for love, acceptance, and happiness, yet fate was cruel to her.

"Princess Skylia Emerald Y Edrea, the 5th princess of the Empire of Crystal, you are sentenced to death for threatening the royal family with dark magic. Do you have any last wish?" The judge said.

Skylia took a breath and said, "Greetings, my the Sun bless the empire. Your Majesty the Emperor," and looked back at them as her eyes filled with love.

"What is your last wish?" His Majesty replied with a cold tone.

Skylia smiled sweetly as if all her wounds disappeared. "For one last time, Your Majesty, just for once, can I call you father?" Her eyes filled with anticipation, yearning for the love she craved.

The council members began to reject her, saying that the emperor mustn't acknowledge a traitor like her. The empress and the princes followed suit.

The Emperor hesitated as he felt a slight break in his heart. "Yes, you may call me father," he finally conceded, ignoring the council's protests.

Skylia's face then lit up, giving her best smile, and finally said, "Thank you, Emperor," she smiled lovingly as the Emperor then added,

"Tell me, what do you want? Say anything, and I'll give it to you," the Emperor said coldly.

Skylia kept smiling and shook her head, and said, "I... I just want you... To look at me as a father, not an Emperor," and then the executioner mercilessly killed Skylia in front of the Empire of Crystal.

The Emperor's cold heart broke as soon as he heard what his daughter said and left alone in a hurry.

Skylia's/ Naya's POV:

Everything went dark, and that's when I realized I was dead again for the fiftieth time now. I'm so tired of waking up and repeating everything, longing for a family and yearning to be loved. Is it too much to ask? When I remembered my first life, it was almost the same as it is now.

I've lost count of how many times I've relived this cycle. Each time, hoping for a different outcome, yet finding myself trapped in the same patterns. The ache for connection and belonging grows stronger with each iteration, yet it remains elusive. As I navigate through this familiar yet ever-changing world, I wonder if there's a way to break free from this endless loop and find the peace I've been searching for.

"It's always been like this, and I'm very tired of repeating everything. Even if I tried to change my fate fifty times, my family would never look at me the way they look at Tiana. It makes me happy that he allowed me to call him father, but in the end, I couldn't bring myself to say it."

My name is Naya, and this is my first life. I live in Korea. My parents died in a plane crash when I was five years old. My grandma, who is my father's mother, came to take care of me—or so I thought. My life changed after the funeral of my parents, that's when they started mistreating and abusing me at such a young age. They made me cook, clean, wash dishes, and do laundry. They even made me stop studying and ordered me to pay for my own food and bed. But where else is my bed? Of course, beside Ali, my one and only friend, the puppy I rescued when my parents were alive. Fortunately, my grandma didn't throw Ali away since I begged her not to, and I promised to pay for both of our meals. Sometimes, Ali brings me food when we have nothing to eat, if grandma didn't leave food for us.

Life was very tough, especially when I became of age and tried to find work since I didn't finish studying. Luckily, I managed to learn how to read, count, and write. Wondering how I learned? It's because of our kind neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Hyung. They taught me the basics of reading, writing, and counting, which helped me a lot. I worked as a part-timer at the grocery store as a saleslady from 6 AM to 12 noon. Then, from 1 PM to 6 PM, I worked at a small restaurant as a dishwasher and janitor. From 6 PM to 11 PM, I worked at the bookstore owned by my grandpa Chan, who resembles my maternal grandfather, Grandpa Flen, so much.

I feel safe around people like Grandpa Chan, Mr. and Mrs. Hyung, and especially Ali. When I came home from work, I brought a lot of food for Ali and me to share. Yet, fate didn't give me even the slightest happiness. The night I came home, I was shocked to see my grandmother with her usual disgusting look towards me, sitting on the sofa. When I was about to pay my respects, she slapped me directly, took my bag, ripped it open, making it unusable, and took my wallet. Then, she went outside. I just cried, picked up my stuff, and went outside to my best friend Ali. I kept crying alone while Ali comforted me, leaning his head on my lap, looking at me as if he wanted to say something.

After that terrible night, my dog and I didn't have anything to eat. Luckily, I had bought a loaf of bread on my way home from my part-time job. I gave it to Ali so at least he wouldn't have to sleep on an empty stomach. That's what I remembered after I reincarnated as the princess of the Crystal Empire. I thought I could feel the warmth of having a family, yet that's what I thought.

Before waking up in the strange, dirty, and dusty room inside the body of a 5-year-old child, I thought I was just dreaming. Yet this granny appeared, looking more terrifying than my own grandmother. She stood in front of me, her eyes resembling sharp knives piercing right through me. Then, my body started to tremble as if it knew what would happen next.
