False tells...

Some times we encounter
well rounded folks; more
often we realize there's another
passer-by-no-surprise.

What of a kid walking at night?
Can a university student ask,
"Can I help you? Are you lost?"

No... The student asked,
"Do you deserve me?",
and pinned the child against
a rock wall...
and she struggled to escape,
without harming him,
because she understood
his pain...
"Strange..."the kid thought...
"I'm literally between a
rock and a hard place!",
and wiggled out of her jacket
to flee past the rest
of the partying students!

About to make a call,
she realized her phone was
in the jacket, and ran back...
He was gone...
"All because he couldn't help
his sister? He shouldn't drink!
I wonder if he'll even remember
me? He's going to wonder where
the jacket and phone came from,
at least...", she thought.

She had no bed, no roof...
...and...
later fell into similar traps,
over and over again, throughout
the rest of that night.

When older...
having no letters,
but remembers
the college boy who prayed
on her...
... and the ones that laughed
about planning to harm a girl
with their buddies.

She prayed to God...

So a letter means nothing, in her
view... Unless it's sincere...
It doesn't mean another
hasn't experienced a similar pain...

"Surviving is something, but
in vain if drenched in booze...
Go be sober minded.",
she finally heard.

Years passed...

"Telling me what degree you have
is like telling me you and I dress the same.... As if that's a good way to determine your ability... How do you respond to fear and insecurities?
I know second chances are good
to pass out... Everyone needs one...
I have learned how our 'leaders'
blot things out...
I don't have you here
to tell me what you've
accomplished.
Tell me,
who you want to help...
why...
and how.
Even if it has nothing to do
with this position..."...
