Rue part 7
A bright ray of sunshine warmed their faces. Tiny was still fast asleep. Rue rubbed her eyes and stretched. It was a warm beautiful day outside. She covered Tiny's face with the sheet and went outside. Droplets of water were sparkling on trees as if they had been decorated with jewels. Birds were chirping. It was time to get some breakfast. Rue had never hunted before and there were no fruits and berries in site. She decided to climb trees to get eggs. She spotted a tree with a bird nest. She put her arms around the tree then to put her right foot on the tree and hugged the tree tightly. Then she tried to bring up the left foot but her right foot slipped. She tried doing it again with her left foot first. It didn't work either. "I guess I'll have to dig my nails in to avoid slipping," she crossed her hands and said. She took her shoes off, hugged the tree again and tried to dig in her toenails only to land up with cracked toenails and scratched feet. "Ugh! I give up. Climbing trees is for monkeys anyway and as it turns out I'm a very smart human and I'll find a better way to find food," she said with a smirk. She went back inside and used the broken slippers to make a sling shot. She went outside and collected some small stones. She stood right below the tree and aimed to shoot the nest in an attempt to make it fall. Instead of hitting the nest, the stone fell straight on her head. "Ouch!
