Equal is better than greater
To be gender equal means to enjoy "the same rights, position, and opportunities as others, independent of one's gender." Several advancements have been made in the 21st century, thus it seems like it ought to be innate to human nature by now. “Equal is better than greater” and this sentence is a complete fit in case of gender equality as parity between sexes is fundamental to progress for any nation.
The Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, adopted by 189 governments 20 years ago, was a watershed moment in the fight for women's rights. This forward-thinking plan is still an extremely potent source of motivation for the movement to achieve gender parity in the workplace.
No nation can advance economically, politically, or socially when half of its population is sidelined, therefore achieving gender equality is not only a problem of half of the world's population; it is a human right, a matter for us all. No one should be left behind.
According to research by UN Women, the gender education gap is narrowing in countries that are members of the OECD. It is possible that gains in females' access to education are responsible for half of the economic growth that has occurred over the past 50 years.
Nonetheless, there is still a fight for equality across the globe, and women are particularly affected. Restrictions on women's freedom of expression, employment opportunities, and clothing styles are just a few examples of the ways in which women's rights are trampled upon in some nations. There is still widespread discrimination against women.
SDG 5 (Sustainable Development Goal) states that achieving gender equality is essential to achieving global peace, prosperity, and sustainability. Although we have made strides in the last few decades, our global community is still far from meeting its goal of achieving gender parity by 2030.
The UN Secretary-General warned in April 2020 that the COVID-19 epidemic threatened to reverse decades of progress towards gender equality and women's rights, and he urged states to make women and girls the focus of their recovery efforts.
The EU and the UN have launched the Spotlight Initiative, a global, multi-year effort to end all kinds of violence against women and girls. The Initiative is called the "Moving the Needle on Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment" Initiative because it is in the forefront of efforts to realize the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, namely gender parity and women's empowerment.
The initial investment will be around 500 million euros, with the European Union (EU) providing the bulk of that money. To increase the Initiative's impact, we plan to invite additional donors and partners to participate. The United Nations' Multi-Partner Trust Fund Office, with the backing of UNDP, UNFPA, and UN Women, and under the supervision of the UN Secretary-Executive General's Office, will serve as the delivery mechanism.

We must act to ensure that millions of girls who are currently denied an education are able to receive one if we are to create the kind of future, we want for ourselves. One in four young women in developing regions are married off before the age of 18, posing a significant challenge and violating their human rights. To craft the desirable future, we must redouble our efforts to ensure that no more than 15 million girls every year become mothers at such a young age, subjecting themselves to the risks of pregnancy and childbirth, which account for a disproportionate number of maternal deaths.
Starting from female foeticides and genital mutilation to women trafficking and domestic violence, to make the world a better place, gender equality is a goal worth working for. we must fight together to end violence against women at every point of the lifecycle.
Women 20 (W20), India's official G20 engagement group, is also working to advance overall development and women's empowerment from the ground up as part of the G20 Presidency. Powerful dialogue was exchanged at the W20 Inception meeting, paving the way towards gender equality in the pursuit of equity and dignity for women-led development. During the discussion, the delegates shared their thoughts on empowering ecosystems and closing the gender gap in various fields.
The world will prosper if we help women realize their full potential. The global issue of gender inequity may be solved, and gender equality achieved simply by strangers banding together to encourage one another on their own paths. We all need encouragement, love, and power because we're human. Until we make progress towards gender equality, rather than gender inequity, our civilization will stagnate.
