The Ballad of Nirvana
Chag was busy staring at Mythri as she bent over his cousin’s bed to grab the blankets.
“Hey! Cut it out, buddy! It’s not very princely of you to stare at me like that.”Mythri said sharply without looking at him, Chag was alarmed, and he looked at Indriya who shrugged as if to say ‘I didn’t tell her anything!’

“I didn’t stare at you.” Chag lied, smiling.
“You are smiling, Prince.” She said wryly.
“You didn’t see that.” He asserted. She turned around and crossed her arms with a raised eyebrow.
“I felt it, Prince. I felt you staring at me, like you stare at that stupid Lekha.” She said as she shook her head in disapproval. Indriya was grinning widely like a little child who was amused by a magician in a magic show.

“First, I don’t stare at Lekha, I mean that is such a lowly accusation, I think you can do better than that. Second, no, I did not stare at you.” He shrugged.
‘You are a bad liar, Prince.’ She mockingly smiled at him.
‘No I am not, I did not lie, I did not stare at you.’ She handed the tray to Indriya and stared at him for even longer.

“Lair, lair, pants on fire!” She said in a sing-along tone.
“Ridiculous.” He dismissed her comment.
“You stared at me and you stared at Lekha.” She asserted.
“Prove it.” Chag asked, raising a brow.
“With your permission, I ask my sole witness, The Queen of Nirvana, Her majesty, Indriya Vardhi Vatsalya, a question.” Mythri asked with pretentious politeness. He jerked his chin toward Indriya, ‘Shit, she is going to give me away! God! I am so dead.’

Cool as a cucumber Mythri asked, “Your Highness, did you or did you not see your cousin, Chaitanya Vatsalya, Crowned Prince of Ujwala, stare at me at seven o seven pm?” She asked, with a commanding tone.
“What do I get for saying no?” Indriya looked at Chag with a half smile, which he returned. “And what do I get for saying yes?”
“I will bake you chocolate cakes for an entire year if you say no.” He coaxed her.
“You will get a clear conscience for saying yes.” She cut in sharply.
Indriya raised a brow, “What? Really.” She asked Chag, Mythri sighed.

“Yes, he was staring at you, Mythri. I mean please can you blame him? Your entire family is one big hot family!” Indriya squealed.
“Oh really?” Mythri and Chag said in unison, and gave her a sly smile.
“Even my brother, Princess?” Mythri asked, turning toward.
“I said ‘your entire family’, so yes, that does include your brother.” She shrugged casually.
“Yeah sure, of course it does.” Chag snorted and Mythri joined in.

Bilvani Tamas waited until the dead of night to sneak out of her heavily guarded room. She opened the balcony door and threw a rope of tied sheets down until it reached the ground, the fluttering of the clothes made a huge sound alerting the guards. When she heard the guards murmur about checking she hid behind the door and waited.
When they opened the door, entered and ran toward the balcony, she slipped out of the room and locked it. Bilvani was smart enough not to wear any of the clothes she had in her closet, so she put on the simple cotton saree she stole from the servants’ closet.
She was not going to run away, there was no point in doing that unless she had a better job to do for now. All she planned to do was write a letter to Soorani and dump it in the pile of letters that were to be sent to the office.
So she wrote and wrote a two page long letter to her brother and her sister. Anuthama was one of the elite so this letter would reach them before dusk of tomorrow.
