Ashley enters the Petalburg Gym, ready for her battle against Norman.

Norman tells her that he's been waiting for another fight with Ashley ever since their last battle, and Ashley says she's more than willing to take Norman up on his offer!

Watching from the sidelines, Max says he's excited to see how the match turns out.

Kenny is the referee announces the rules of the match: three Pokémon, but only Ashley is allowed substitutions.

Raising his flags, Kenny signals for the match to begin and both Ashley and Norman send out their first Pokémon, Norman's Slakoth against Ashley's Sentret.

Norman's Slakoth begins with Hidden Power, and Sentret can't seem to hit it. Sentret is then immobilized by Slakoth's Blizzard, so Ashley switches the Normal-type out for Combusken.

Combusken takes out Slakoth with a Flamethrower.

In turn, Combusken is taken down by a Scratch attack from Vigoroth. Ashley sends Sentret back out, and when the two Pokémon make physical contact, Vigoroth is paralyzed by Sentret's Thunderbolt.

Sentret uses Iron Tail to knock out Vigoroth, but also faints.

In the end Ashley's Machoke faces off against Norman's Slaking.

Machop evolved into a Machoke while sparring against Ashley's Arcanine.

Slaking manages to counter all of Machoke's attacks, and then uses Earthquake.

Low on HP, Machoke's Guts ability increases his Attack power, and the Fighting-type knocks Slaking out with a combination of Focus Blast and Dynamic Punch.

Max congratulated Ashley on her victory.

Later, Norman presents Ashley with the Balance Badge.
