Chapter 5 : Officially a Rebel

Owen had spent the last few days searching for the group of rebels. He had heard rumors about them and their secret meetings, and he was determined to find them. After wandering through the city's back alleys and abandoned buildings, Owen finally found what he was looking for.

He peeked through the window of an old, rundown building and saw a group of people huddled around a table. They were discussing something in hushed tones, and Owen strained his ears to catch what they were saying. Suddenly, the door to the building creaked open, and a man with a shifty look in his eyes emerged. Owen quickly ducked behind a nearby trash bin and watched as the man glanced around suspiciously before hurrying away.

Owen knew this was his chance. He quietly slipped into the building and made his way down a narrow hallway. The sound of voices grew louder as he approached a closed door. Owen pressed his ear to the door and listened intently. The voices were muffled, but he could make out a few words.

Suddenly, the door opened, and Owen stumbled forward, nearly falling to the ground. A young woman with a wild look in her eyes stood before him, one hand on the doorknob and the other holding a knife.

"What are you doing here?" she demanded, her voice low and dangerous.

Owen put his hands up in a gesture of surrender. "I come in peace. I'm looking for the magicless rebels."

The woman's eyes narrowed. "And what makes you think we'll just hand them over to you?"

Owen took a step forward, keeping his hands up. "I don't want to hurt anyone. I just want to talk. I'm not like the other magic users."

The woman studied him for a moment before lowering the knife. "Fine. But you have to understand, we've been betrayed before. We can't just trust anyone who walks through that door."

Owen nodded in agreement. "I understand. Can you take me to your leader?"

The woman hesitated before nodding. "Follow me."

Owen followed her through a maze of narrow hallways and up a flight of stairs. Finally, they arrived at a small room filled with people. The room fell silent as they entered, and all eyes turned to Owen.

"I've brought someone who wants to talk," the woman announced.

There was a murmur of distrust from the group, but their leader, a tall man with graying hair, stepped forward. "What do you want?" he asked.

Owen took a deep breath. "I want to help you. I know what it's like to be discriminated against because of what you don't have. I may not have magic, but I have other skills that could be useful to you."

The group exchanged glances, and Owen could see the distrust in their eyes. But then a young man spoke up. "Maybe we should give him a chance. We could use all the help we can get."

The leader nodded slowly. "Very well. But if you betray us, you'll regret it."

Owen nodded. "I understand."

And with that, Owen was officially part of the magicless rebels. He didn't know what the future held, but for the first time in a long time, he felt like he belonged somewhere.
