I stared at the letters tattooed into my right forearm. 'T.A.E.,' I read out loud, tracing my finger over the intricate design. I had no memory how I had got it or why I was in a hospital gown or why I was floating at the edge of a muddy, river bank. I had absolutely no memory of who I was…
I looked around, trying to take in my surroundings. I was lying on a hospital bed, wearing a thin, scratchy gown. The room was dimly lit and I could hear machines beeping softly in the background. But the most confusing part was that I had no idea how I got here or who I was.

A nurse walked into the room, a look of concern on her face. 'Oh, you're awake,' she said, rushing over to my bedside. 'How are you feeling?'

'I...I don't know,' I replied, my voice hoarse. 'Who am I? How did I get here?'

The nurse's expression softened. 'You were found floating at the edge of a muddy river bank,' she explained. 'Someone saw you and called for help. Do you remember anything?'

I racked my brain, desperately trying to remember something, anything. But it was like my mind was a blank slate. 'No, I don't remember anything,' I said, feeling a surge of panic rising in my chest.

The nurse patted my hand reassuringly. 'It's okay, you have amnesia. It's not uncommon for patients who have been through a traumatic experience,' she said, before...
