A Fateful Day
September 25th 2003, off to work, what a beautiful day, some days it's great to have a purpose be very thankful.

I better introduce myself, my name is Jarret Davies, Youth Worker employed by the council of Penbridge, working as
part of team, in the Ravens Community Centre, which is funded by the council.
The Community Centre, opens 9AM to 10PM, Monday to Friday, with a break at the weekend.

Ravens Community Centre, which has been going for a number of years, was an old primary school, renovated to help out the community, with many facilities attached to it, including a Nursery, gym,
music room, cafe, even a hall to let etc.
but by day the hall was also used as a Youth Centre, which opens at midday for the underprivileged and generally to
keep the youth off the streets and away from potential crime, still there was a few opportunities and projects going within the centre.

Jarret enters the office, usual good mornings, acknowledged, off to his
desk , as Jarret goes through the roll
call for the day, he notice that the hall
has been hired for the day, with a slight
extension on time, guess he'll be late home tonight, his thoughts shattered as the alarm bell rang, there seems to be a lot of commotion outside, as Jarret rushes out the office, there seem to be a fracas in the gym, two people bodily had
to be restrained, a heated argument ensues.

Tempers running high, after a great deal of talk and reasoning, everything seems fine, seems as if the disagreement has been resolved, hours went by in the day, it was very quiet and peaceful.

Evening arrives the hall has been booked
for a birthday party, the DJ playing his latest music collection to the gathering crowd as Jarret surveys the crowds it looks peaceful everyone enjoying themselves

Families, kids running around oblivious to anything, for the moment it looked like fun.

Next minute all Jarret can remember was
out of nowhere a fight started in the hall
which looked like a mass brawl before his eyes, and the loudest bang he ever heard coming from the front entrance
to say it was chaos was putting it mildly
kids screaming, women grabbing their kids, the crowds stampeding in all directions in absolute turmoil, as Jarret
rushed through the crowds desperate to
rid themselves of this nightmare.

Jarret reaches the entrance, what he encounters will stay with him for the
rest of his life ...

A scene from hell, slumped in the corner
half his face gone, fighting for his life.
was one of the youth which Jarret and his colleagues restraint earlier on in the
day in the gym.

Police sirens could be heard in the distance, absolute mayhem, everyone in
shock, only a handful of people was left
when you turned around everyone was
gone, no one wanted to talk to the Police.
