Not A Love Story
I saw him come running, I bent down smiling and within seconds he embraced my hug. And I felt the tears rolling down from his innocent little eyes refusing to leave me.

He wasn't a friend, nor a family. In fact a 7 year old boy who came for vacation in neighbours. A boy who couldn't speak hindi, and I damn can't speak Malyalam, yet no words were required.

Watching TV lost in my own world, as if no one else exists. Yes that was me, and my mom brought him and asked to sit next to me to watch along. He sat for a long time, then loooked at my bat and held it trying a few shots. I searched for the ball that's it. The one common thing we loved, cricket..

From then two months of watching tv, playing cricket and just not talking much and here we were, his innocence won me over. And now he had to go, and then he said it, "he wants to stay with me". Everyone laughed, but adored his love and I did ask him to go and come back next year so we could do it all over again...

That year never came, my friend never came. We called him "mithoo", don't even know his real name. He wouldn't have forgotten me, someday we will meet. And we will play, watch TV and just cherish our unbreakable bond..

Sometimes, emotions don't need saying. You might be chasing people while someone unannounced would become more important then you would imagine.
