"Happy New Year, Tana," Kai said with a warm smile.
Tana grinned in response, replying, "Kai, my New Year's resolution is simple: I'll never let our friendship break."
Kai's eyes softened. "You're the sweetest, Tana. And as for me, my resolution is clear: I'll always be here with you."

"Tana, wake up!" Zoe's voice urgently called out.
Tana's eyes fluttered open in panic.
"Are you finally awake?" Zoe teased. "You dozed off in class again!"
Tana, bewildered, asked, "Slept in class?"
Zoe chuckled, "Happy New Year, everyone."
New Year's? Tana's confusion deepened. "What year is this?"
Zoe grinned. "It's 2022, you forgetful goofball."
"Zoe? You?" Tana was surprised.
"Yes, me, Tana," Zoe confirmed. "But hold on, Tana, do you remember your amnesia?"
Tana's anxiety grew. "What are they talking about? Where's Kai?"
Zoe's expression shifted, and she replied with a heavy heart, "Tana, I need you to sit down. Kai... Kai passed away ten years ago."
Tana's eyes widened in disbelief. "Died? This has to be a prank!"
Zoe's voice was gentle. "It's not a prank, Tana. Let's talk more after school."

"Tana, wake up already!" A concerned voice urged.
Tana's eyes slowly opened, and she found herself in an unfamiliar place.
Startled, she asked, "Where am I? And who are you?"
The person by her side hesitated. "Tana, it's me. Don't you remember?"
"What's happening?" Tana demanded, her fear growing.
The voice tried to soothe her. "It's amnesia, Tana. Just give it a moment."
Terrified, Tana asked, "Amnesia? Why does everyone keep saying that? What's wrong with me?"
"Wait," the voice said gently. "What year do you think it is?"
Tana's voice quivered. "I don't know."
"It's 2032," they replied. "But don't worry, everything will be alright. Just take a deep breath."
Tana's heartache resurfaced. "No, I don't want anything else. Just tell me, where's Kai?"
"Kai?" The voice hesitated. "Tana, how could you forget?"
"Forget what?" Tana pleaded.
The voice delivered the painful truth, "Kai... Kai's been gone for twenty years."
Tana's world shattered. She sat under the bed, hands covering her ears, tears streaming down her face as she cried out, "No, it can't be! Kai, please come back!"
