The Horse's Influence

*old writing*

About a week ago, I arranged to go to the stable, with Fawaz, for the sole purpose of teaching my good friend the fine art of horse riding. This was not Fawaz's first lesson, so he was eager to experience riding once again, as he thoroughly enjoyed his first lesson. After having this fun, morning session; we entered my vehicle, so that we would go to Fawaz's house, and in my car, I observed a clear switch in my friend's mentality. He had mental clarity. That clarity, and its particular reasons, however, were not out of the realms of my recognition, and understanding. I asked him, nonetheless, about his thoughts on the second lesson, and how he felt. He responded: "Amazing. Amazing feeling. Best day ever." His words, were of no surprise to me, for I was once in his position; feeling the grace of this wonderful creature, and sensing its ability to change your state of mind with absolute ease, never mind changing the whole course of your life.
I was once a teenager living, forced, within the psychologically and mentally chaotic teenage society. Confused by its ethically and morally stripped reality, which is the polar opposite of your reality as a younger kid, which was fuelled by moral and ethical values, forming, in turn, an "unrealistic reality", which in turn, prepares you for a reality shock. When you are facing the reality that what were once the core values and beliefs are almost non-existent in this newer era. The shock of understanding that reality is completely different than what you perceived, is brutal. Especially, when an enormous number of individuals within that society are major contributors to the unfortunate state of that society.
You cannot face the stream when you are alone, and unequipped. Eventually, the harsh social reality is bound to affect and change you. That is exactly what happened to me, I was changing, and losing myself, slowly, and painfully. That, was until a factor presented itself, and with its unconditional help, I was deemed able, and ready, to face the stream that was once thought to be unstoppable. Only now, I overcome it, effortlessly.
That factor, presented itself, in the fantastic form of horses. Horses give you nothing for free; you have to work for every result, you must be, or prove to be capable of getting it. However, with every good action, you are rewarded, accordingly, and deservingly. The ultimate example of fairness.
They do not care how you dress, or how you are perceived by others. They only care about how you act. You must be genuine, or there is no chance of getting their acceptance. The more you give, the more you get. Being nice is not enough; you must prove to be trustworthy, by having the ability to control and protect; these attributes are of the utmost importance to horses; if you do not possess these attributes, then they will reject you, but at the same time, they will help you gain them.
Due to all of these mentioned facts, horses will change you, and shape you into a completely different individual. One that is able to be trustworthy. One that is fair. One that is not egotistical, yet truly confident. One that is deemed strong, more than enough, to encounter the heavy stream; reality, no matter how harsh it appears to be.
That was how horses shaped who I was as a teenager and how it helped me get through that period, for without the help of this elegant creature, I would have got lost, and I won't be where I am today.
Precisely, that is why Fawaz's complete astonishment of how horses make him feel, is of no surprise for me. That is also why, I am deeply happy of how happy he is. I know how delighted, people can be when they understand the potential of how horses could alter the course of their lives, for I experienced that feeling myself. So, being able to give others, friends, in particular, the chance to get that feeling, and experience it, is lovely in itself, and it provides me the chance to recall the whole process again.
