Meredith Grey woke up to the sound of her alarm blaring in her ear. She groggily reached over to turn it off, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. She lay in bed for a moment, thinking about the day ahead of her. Today was the day she started her internship at Seattle Grace Hospital.
Meredith threw off the covers and got out of bed. She stumbled to the bathroom, where she splashed some water on her face and brushed her teeth. She looked at herself in the mirror, taking a moment to study her reflection. She had dark circles under her eyes from lack of sleep, but she was determined to make a good impression on her first day.
Meredith got dressed in the scrubs she had laid out the night before. She grabbed her backpack and headed out the door, locking it behind her. She took a deep breath, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. This was it, the start of her career as a surgeon.
As she walked to the hospital, Meredith thought about her past. She had always known she wanted to be a doctor, ever since she was a little girl.
