My life with exercise
My life with exercise

So if you know me or follow me, you know that I have been exercising since I was in high school back in the dinosaur days when women didn't go to the gym.

I even took weight lifting as an elective in college. I worked out through both of my pregnancies until I was put on bedrest. And then as soon as I gave birth and was allowed to. I've worked out with a broken arm, a broken leg, broken toes, and too many other injuries to list. I just modified my workout to go around my injuries at the time.

Yes, to me, exercise has been like brushing my teeth. It's just something I do every day of my life. Without exercise, I get depressed, and I feel horrible. This is my stress relief. It's my time for myself, and it grounds me when things are going crazy around me.

At the beginning of the year I was sick and couldn't exercise and yes, I got depressed and I ate. I gained some weight during that time, and when I finally got back to be able to exercise, I was thrilled. But when you're over a certain age, losing weight takes a lot more than it did in your 20s or 30s. Welcome to middle age, where everything falls apart and nothing is easy!

Well, I am not a quitter, so I start pounding it hard. And then comes the pain in my foot, the doctor informs me it is Plantar fasciitis and that I need to stop walking and running. Oh, come on! Seriously?
So I think okay, I will do more TRX, I will try wall Pilates, just weight lifting and yoga. This way, there is no pressure like walking or running. But it's been hard. I now understand why so many people are running towards the easy way out with drugs. This is serious discipline. I prepare all my meals in advance and weigh everything. I count all calories and protein. I do 2 protein shakes a day. I do 2 different exercises a day. And it's still hard, but I am determined.

So today, my friends, I am here to let you know don't give up. I know it's hard, but you can do it. All it takes is determination, change it up, and keep going. They say anything becomes a habit if you do it for 30 days or more. You can make it a habit like I have and make exercise your life.
