Grandma what are you doing? Calvin ask I am just sitting here thinking that’s all replied Catherine Murphy. Well since today is Father’s Day I thought you would be thinking about my grandfather am I right? said Calvin Murphy. Not yet but I was actually thinking about your great great grandfather Sir Alexander Murphy I replied Catherine oh that’s your dad replied Calvin. Well he’s my daddy he helped my mom to raise me and the most of my brothers during the Great Depression said Catherine Murphy I understand grandma I am glad you and my uncles did survive the Great Depression replied Calvin. I remember my daddy did a daughter and father’s night for me and my sister Beatrice it was June 16 1963 me my daddy and Beatrice was hanging out together my sister was so happy to get to see daddy and so was I we had fun said Catherine. Well grandma if you and my aunt Beatrice had fun what did y’all do to have fun replied Calvin. Well we had a party we danced your great great grandfather invited his friends over and we invited some of our friends over to the party then one of my daddy’s friend was dressed up as a clown he was going around scarying people and your aunt Beatrice was scared of clowns she ran and told my daddy this is what my daddy did he went upstairs to his room he went in his closet see him and my mom got the biggest closet in the house it was like a walk through closet and they had so many stuff in the closet my daddy found his shotgun that was loaded he went downstairs then he saw his friend in a clown suit walking over towards me and Beatrice and before we knew it my daddy pointed his shotgun up in the ceiling and he pulled the trigger that gun was so loud even mama heard it said Catherine. Wow then what happened? Calvin ask after my dad shot his shotgun the man in the clown suit ran out and took that clown costume off that day on the party was over me and your aunt Beatrice was happy that everybody left that night daddy told us that he felt more happier to be around us, he will always protect us, and he will never leave our side replied Catherine. Wow grandma my great great grandpa was so protective over yall replied Calvin yes yes he was now we are going over to his grave today and I want to lay flowers right on his grave said Catherine well where is he buried at? Calvin ask you know he is buried right next to mama replied Catherine. That day Catherine and Calvin headed off to the store to pick up some flowers to take to the grave site to go see Catherine’s father but as they arrive at the grave site they stopped at Sir Alexander’s grave Catherine wanted to cry but she told her father that her and Calvin loved him and her mom and Catherine layed the flowers on her father’s grave. Wow great great grandpa was the oldest man said Calvin oh yes he was but he out lived my mother my mother was born in 1902 and died in 1967 and my father was born in 1898 and died in 1975 replied Catherine. Alright grandma we better get back home it will be time to cook dinner remember I will be making our favorites tonight fried chicken said Calvin alright baby let’s go home oh and happy Father’s Day daddy may you rest in paradise along with mama, Kenny, and Beatrice replied Catherine and so Catherine and Calvin headed back home together.
