The Monster
#WritcoStoryPrompt22
The howl that rang out the silent night was heard across the slumbering streets.
The hair rose at the back of their heads.
The monster had escaped...

The Itius town ,was surrounded by deep green forest.
It was forbidden to enter the forest after dawn.
It was said by the elders that,in that forest different beasts-monsters lurk around at night.

They feared him- the monster.
They should. Nobody knew how powerful or how wild the beast was.
It could snap their necks within minutes.

The town was fortunate enough to have brave people, like Mr.Hoofer...
David Hoofer, a yound fearless lad.
Who devised a plan to capture the beast.
Oh how foolish!
Capture a beast, thrice your size ?

The people of the town hadn't beleived him.
There was no way he could capture and torture a beast ,so that other beasts would know that the people of this town, were not afraid.

Contrary to everyone's beliefs and opinions,
The young lad succeeded.
What a shock!
He had done it!
He had captured the beast!
Well, after all he wasn't called the most smartest bachelor of the town for names' sake.

It had been two days ,since the beast got captured.
The people of Itius celebrated their victory, danced around, ate meat.
But among them , there was a young and beautiful woman sitting all by herself.
She didn't celebrate with them.
She couldn't.
Her heart ached for the captured beast.
Why?...Why was she so restless by the capture?

There was no answer to that.
however, she knew that even though the beast-the monster was ferocious and huge,he hadn't harmed anybody.
She was sure he wouldn't harm any of them, unless provoked.
The monster was wild , Yes.
But he was harmless ,as he had once saved her life.

She was in debt ,she had to repay the beast for saving her life.
Without a second thought, she stood up.
Her eyes held determination,as she marched to the cell ,where the beast was locked.
Her heart was hammering in her rid cage .
With a shivering hand, she reached for the latch.
She opened the door...it was dark inside.
She wouldn't have seen the beast if he hadn't stepped closer .
The moon light fell on his face.
His blue eyes ,is what she saw first.
She held in a gasp, she was mesmerized.

In a quite voice she whispered,
"You are free "
The beast stood there ,taking in the beauty that stood in front of him.
Two days ago,he had come to the border of the forest in search of her.
He wanted just a glimpse of her.
And now that she stood in front of him,he couldn't get enough of her.
She was beautiful, even more than the last time he had seen her.
He captured by her beauty, this young petite woman .
Oh how her had fallen in love, with her brown eyes, curly hair and chocolate skin.
She was an art of beauty, carefully created.
"Go", she whispered again.
This snaped the beast out of his trance.

Very slowly he walked out of the cage and turned in the direction he had to go.
But he turned his head again,to look at her.
Very cautiously ,he stepped towards her.
The woman was now terrified.
Oh no!
"The beast wouldn't harm her"...she prayed and chanted I'm the mind.
The beast now sat in front of her, head tilted slightly down,as if thanking her.
Before she could comprehend her next move, she had lifted her hand in the air and slowly patted the beasts' head.
The fur was soft,so soft that she didn't want to stop.

She stepped back after a few minutes.
It was time ,the beast had to leave.
The beast stood up and with one last look at her,ran to where he had come from.
The woman stood there,it was as if she were in a dream.
But it was all real. The beast was here and she had freed him.

And he went away without harming anyone.
Perhaps, the beast was just lonely and wanted a friend? Some one to show him kindness ,as he had shown?
The woman now walked back to her house.
The celebration was over, all had retired for the night.

Far in the distance,a loud howl that rang out the silent night was heard across the slumbering streets.
The hair rose at the back of their heads.
The monster had escaped...

Indeed, he had escaped.
