Expectations to let go of in 20s
Expectations you should let go of in your 20s:

• That you're someone who is unusually great. That quality is rare. You need to acknowledge what you are. Embrace the ordinary because that's exceptional and unique.

• That you're just starting in your life. No, you aren't. Let's face the harsh reality. Man is mortal. Life is short. We may die young. We may not be in our 20s or 30s or whatever. So get up and do it, instead of thinking about your age.

• That your mistakes are okay and they can be forgiven and forgotten. Be responsible for your mistakes and bad choices.

• That you can be whatever you want to be. You can't do certain things if you don't have the capacity. If you're lucky or hardworking enough, you might cross your path with your interests. But just wanting something won't make you have it.

• That hurt can be deceived. You have to accept it can't be.

• That love is to be earned. Please don't do that. Love yourself first. Others' acceptance and love doesn't validate you.

• That your gut feelings and deep instincts aren't always right. Shit happens when we least expect it to.

• That if you work hard now, you won't have to do later. Instead, if you work hard now, you'll realise your potential and if it's worth it.

• That you can please and control others. Only your behaviour is in your hands. People will anyway judge, criticise or maybe love or resent you. That's their perception.

• That hard work = success. Hard work makes you stronger, wiser, smarter. That doesn't imply that you'll reach your particular goal.

• That what you think depends on what situation you're in. If you believe in something, no matter what the situation is, your behaviour will be different.

• That others are responsible for your feelings. You shouldn't let them decide what and how you feel. Life will be very difficult that way.

• That you'll be happy when you don't have any problems. You should be happy if you know how to deal with your problems.

• That there's always a right time. You never know when and how your life takes a turn. Don't wait to feel ready. Enjoy what lies ahead of you, instead of waiting.

• That you can feel happy later. Happiness is temporary. So just feel it when you have it. Don't postpone it.

• That negative thoughts are a part of life. They aren't!

• That only being self-sufficient is enough. It can be your first priority but not your goal. Thinking about people who love you and doing things for them and making them happy are also essentials.
