SNEAK PEEK!

After what felt like an eternity, a run-down structure came into view. Ryan turned to him outside the door.

"Wait here, I'll check it out."

"No way. I'm going with you."

"Kyle, if she's in there...I'm not sure what we're going to find. Are you sure you can handle seeing it if...if we're too late?"

Kyle didn't hesitate. "Ry, even if she's torn limb from limb I'm taking her home. I'm not leaving this barn without her, dead or alive."

Ryan nodded. "Okay, fine."

The second Kyle entered the barn, the scent of blood assaulted him. He froze, Ryan's warning rushing through his mind. What was he about to see? Would he even recognize her?

A whimper broke from across the barn. His senses went on high alert. That sounded like a woman. Was it Justice? Was she alive?

He rushed toward the sound, almost tripping over the dead body of a young man in the process. A trail of blood led him to the corner of the barn. His eyes scanned the room.

Then he saw her.

"Justice!" Kyle rushed to her side, dropping to his knees and gathering her bloodied form up into his arms. She cried out as he touched her, instantly trying to push him away.

"K...Kyle, please...don't. I'm too far gone an...an' you'll only get...b...blood on your hands."

Kyle looked down at her bruised face, tears welling up in his eyes. "Don't worry about that, I don't care." He said softly, his gaze landing on the bullethole in her shirt. Blood pumped heavily from the wound. She would bleed to death in a matter of minutes if he didn't do something. Quick.

"Justice!" Ryan was instantly at their side. "Justice, we're here. We're going to get you out of here."

She looked up at him. Kyle's heart broke at the desperation, the fear, in her gaze. She didn't speak, but he saw every unspoken syllable there in her eyes. She thought she was dying.

"Ryan," Kyle said, lying Justice on the ground and tearing his shirt off. "You're going to have to hold her down. I've got to stop the bleeding."

Justice's eyes widened. She tried to pull away, but Ryan grabbed her shoulders, flinching as she cried out in agonizing pain. "I'm so sorry, Justice. But you have to lie still. We're trying to help you. You're not going to die. We won't let that happen."

She pushed Kyle's hands away as he pressed his shirt against her chest. "No, Kyle. Please. Just stop. I...I'm not...not even..." Tears spilled from her eye as she finished. "w...worth it."

Blood turned to ice in his veins. "What?" He whispered in disbelief, more to himself than to Justice. Here his heart was breaking, and she felt like she wasn't even worth the effort to save her life?

He grabbed her left hand, crushing it in his grasp. His other hand went beneath her, lifting her head so she could look him in the eye. "Justice, you listen to me and you listen good. You are worth this, you're worth everything. You're worth every breath that leaves my body. Don't you dare let anyone tell you otherwise."

She cried out, her back arching with agony. "Kyle, please..."

"No, I'm not done, Justice. You can't give up, can't let something like this take you. You're stronger than that. Please, don't give up, don't stop fighting." He leaned down until he was inches from her face. "I can't lose you. Please, if you won't fight for yourself then fight for me. I'll never forgive myself if you die in this barn. Please, I am begging you, Justice. Hold on."

Tears cascaded down her bruised face, mixing with blood and sweat. "Ok...okay, I'll hold on for you, Kyle. D...do what you have...to do."
