The Old Mansion
Lost in time
weaved with memories
It was but an old house
It was one of the first mansions on the lake
it had three floors and many rooms
Built in 1800s,it was out of the ordinary
Boat access or drive across the ice come winter time
The original owner was from England
Him his wife and daughter were the only occupants
He could have been related to Mr Crowley
The story goes like fiction
The daughter falls in love with a home steaders son who's family were farmers
To the father his daughter was special, he built his mansion so far away from civilization to keep his daughter safe from the evil that lurked in his brain
When he caught wind that his daughter was seeing a boy he came unglued
He watched and planned that summer for his chance to save his daughter
Than one night he had his chance
The leaves had turned color and were falling off the trees
He waited patiently on the path thru which the boy travelled to visit his beloved girlfriend who would someday be his wife , as the boy walked past a big fir the evil father came out of no whear with a pick handle and clubbed the boy's skull
He proceeded to carry the boy to the wood shed and chopped off his head
He put his prize in the boat and rowed out to copper island where he put the head on top of the island and the body into the deep at the base of the island
Never to be whole, head searching for his body
There was no clues
The farmers father knew but there was no proof
The daughter hanged herself off the second floor staircase to the surprise of the evil father
The next summer the mother drowned, they say from grief as the story goes
The evil father packed up and moved back to England never to come back
The old mansion has had many owners over the years but they stayed for a month or two just to move out for the mansion was truly haunted
The story goes when the leaves are falling off the trees you can see a light on Copper island from the second floor of the old mansion the head looking for its body
Teenagers would dare each other to go into the old mansion and susposivly the doors would slam shut and lock tight to only get out by jumping out the windows
In 1975 the old mansion burned down before I could go explore but I did get to see it with my sister and I remember to this day the glass from the windows where all broken as people had jumped out.
