Emotional trauma - understanding the human psyche.
What causes emotional trauma is the burial of invalidated emotions,
When a particular event or a particular person has deeply shattered your emotional self
And you did not confront them then on, (perhaps you normalised it or you were too empathetic/intimidated to confront them)
And instead you buried it, it would create a very lasting impact on your ego and emotional self, sometimes to the extent where you'll forever will keep trying to validate it.

We as human require ourselves/our emotions to be validated,
Validation, simply means to be understood,
When your emotions are understood or you perceive them to be understood is when you feel validated or at ease.
"You must express what you feel towards whom you feel or have felt"
If left unexpressed/invalidated and buried, we try to cope up with it,
We generally do it,
Either by inflicting the same pain we have felt, or by degrading and humiliating ourselves, making oneself feel as if we deserved it, we deserved the pain, is also what makes someone a masochist or a sadist, I think.

These are just my observations, I Don't account them as facts.
could you relate?
