On the dark night December 16,2012,a 23 years old girl was gang raped in munirka, a neighbourhood of south delhi.Jyoti singh ,physiotheraphy intern,born and brought up in delhi.Her father worked in a private company.Her father sold his ancestral property in utterpradesh for her educational purpose.On December 16,jyoti singh and her boy friend Awindra pratap pandey return from watching movie"life of pie"both of them waiting for auto riksha..The off charted bus offer a lift..Both of them enter in to the bus..In that bus only six men was there including driver..All are looking strange..suddenly one man close the windows..Her friend,question him.. said objection to his misbehaviour and scuffle brokedown. ..A man who is drunk hit her boy friend with iron rod ..he become unconscious.A man dragged her on the back side of the bus..then she was brutally tortured ..molested.....gang rape for one hour..she fought to save her..suddenly one of the assaultant who is juvenile took the L shaped rod inserted into the private organ..and he was pulling and ripping the intestine..During that time the driver drove all over delhi..After l hour they throw them half dead on the side of the road.
Next morning a man who found and informed to the police..the police rushed to the spot..then both of them admitted to sajdarjung hospital....In her statement to police ,she need a justice against six of them.Jhoti singh condition is critical...doctor said ,only 5 % of intestine left ,her uterus,genital organ are all gravely damaged.Body is full of bruises .So they airwayed to singapore for treatment..
Meanwhile ,police identified the six assaultant and arrested..The incident blast the whole india...dec 21 2012,people gather for demonstation infront of India gate,infront of Raisina hills..every one demand justice...Trial is going on ..meanwhile one of the assaultant commit suicide in tigar jail..who is none other than the bus driver..
THE incident pressure the UPA government ,separate judicial commitee was formed under the head of verma,to investigate the depth of the case...and also Fast trial court was created to track the case...those who stalking,voyuerism or intentional touch are all list under crime..it bring changes in law against women.
The supreme court give the verdict to four assaultant ..SENTENCE TO CAPITAL P UNISHMENT.One assalutant who is juvenille ,shift to JJB(juvenille justice board)..he was sentence to three year imprionment in reformatory board.,and then he was released..
After the 11 days treatment in singapore..joti singh was dead on 29 th december 2012 and her friend survived with broken ribs.
Public was waiting to execute the capital punishment..but the criminal put review petition and escaped.But after four year the supremecourt cancell the petition and hang them..
Her parents felt happy after hearing the justice to her daughter..In 2013 she (Nirbhaya)received the International woman for courage award from U.S department of state,posthumouly.
For rape cases victims name not allowed to use..so after get many names from publication they finalised "NIRBAYA"it means fearless.Her name was not publised in the media durial the trial period.
In India As per official statistical report,nearly 34000 rape complaints and 84000 sexual harassment were registered in 2015.Most of the cases were pending.This is just an example..like this,many hidden cases is still unanswered.."Judgement delayed but not denied."..👍😘
