Drifting stars (gravity falls au) Draft
“Look into my eyes Mable so you really think I'm a bad guy”
No, no I don't-
Mables eyes glistened with tears, from the book's warnings, to the squabbling, to the fighting, everything was becoming too much for her to handle. Mable’s eyes squeezed shut for a moment, a desperate attempt at blocking out all the noise as her hands grasped desperately to the platform that kept her grounded amongst the chaos around her. I'm not as smart as Dipper so this could be the wrong choice but Grunkle Stan is not evil, he wouldn't do anything to hurt us..
“Grunkle Stan!” Her voice rang out, silencing everyone in that moment. As her eyes found Stan’s she knew what choice was right.
“I trust you” That's all that she needed to say. She knew Dipper wouldn't understand. Her suspicions were only confirmed as Dipper’s voice cut through the sound of the portal.
His words no longer mattered though. Mable's hands were in the air as the portal pulled her higher up. The swirling mass behind her caused everyone to be painted in a blue tint. She kept her eyes closed, she didn't want to have to face Dipper at this moment. A look of betrayal most likely adorning his face.
For a moment everything was still. But, soon all hell broke loose. Mable had already realized what was happening before anyone's screams got through to her. The hairs on the back of her neck stood up as she felt a strong pull coming from behind her.
No
Mable's eyes flew open as she was dragged towards the portal, the swirling vortex growing stronger with each second. She knew everyone was yelling for her to grab onto something, anything but all she heard was ringing in her ears.
“Dipper, Grunkle Stan!” She cried out desperately while reaching out for the pole she once clung onto. Deep down she knew it was too far away.
“Help” Was the last thing she could muster as she was pulled into the portal completely. Watching helplessly as Dipper stayed frozen in place horrified by what was happening. He knew there was nothing that could be done. She understood that, she did but, she was grateful for Stan's desperate attempts at reaching for her. He was shouting something, she couldn't hear what it was, but the tears rushing down his face said enough.
Mable crashed into the ground on the other end. Dirt displaced by her crude landing, dirt which then settled onto her skirt and clung to her sweater. Mable's eyes stared out at the place she was flung out of in horror, the portal was gone and she wasn't in the lab. There was no time to process what had just happened before she was snatched up off the ground by- Grunkle Stan?
She couldn't believe her eyes. Grunkle Stan hadn't fallen through the portal has he? It would make sense if he did, but there was something different about the guy she was face to face with. Everything about him seemed different, except his face.
As they reached an oddly pristine white set of stairs Mable was set back on her feet. Running alongside this strange version of grunkle Stan towards seemingly nowhere. What was this place? She’d never seen anything like it. Dipper would love it here.
“Dammit Stanley, what were you thinking!?” Mable instantly whipped her head to her left as the man finally spoke.
“I was just about to..” He interrupted his own train of thought to yell out. “Fuck” his eyes narrowed as he focused on leading them up a second set of staircases.
