Religion: The way one thinks. PART-1
In the age of reason when many leading philosophers and emerging activist began questioning religion the very thing which has its sway on the human civilization in general and over an individual in particular. Religion is as much old as the human civilization itself. It would not be a fallacy if I say, religion and life have grown up together.
When there used to be no concrete political life exist in the very face of this Earth (Mother Earth), religion was the cementing factor keeping the bricks of civilization in liaison.
If it was the lime and mortar of relationship over which humanity was thriving then why did we happen to see the debate Religion v. Reason and name given by coterie of intelligentsia as the age of Reason. Did no reason exist before this band of time?
Was Thomas Hobbes right while describing the state of Nature ( time when there’s no institutionalized polity rendering its services to the masses as he thought) where life was poor, boorish, nasty, and full of chaos, life where Bellum omnium contra omnes( the war of all against all)?
Like him many leading thinkers of the Renaissance challenge the very prevailing force of humanity (#religion). To what extent they all described their point of views the way these should be put forth.
Were they all survivors of that cult of religion which brought in crusades and dominance of religious institutions for their generation?
In my opinion they all had started their journey with such a notion and in the later time came in conflict with the prevailing force of the masses.
How we all in this third decade of 21st century perceive or stand to counter religion.
As, Thomas Paine once said: The World is my country, all mankind are my brethren, and to do good is my religion.
Are we or our respective polities ( sovereign state) following the suit or still we are playing fiddle and letting the chance to miscreants to dig deep the chasm between you and I on the name of Religious dominance under the garb of Minority v. Majority?
How these tendencies could be eschewed with?
What is the essence of Religion?
Do we know, what role does this word play in our lives?
Does religion possess no reason?
There are end number of whys and wherefores to reckon with.
In this part one, of the coming insights on the very conversation I tried to give an intro and glimpse to open up the healthy debate in this regard.
