"It's a girl! "
The doctor gushed, placing the wailing infant on the woman's chest.
She heaved trying to catch her breath in the aftermath of her gruelling labour. Tears of pain mingled briefly with tears of joy before dissolving into tears of sadness.
She had once again given birth to a girl! Her third daughter. What would her husband and in-laws do to her now?...
Naomi is a beautiful young woman. She was given away by her parents to a rich man (Jack). Or more like they sold her without her even knowing of such unacceptable act.
She used to lived with her mom and dad. It was always the three of them. Her parents had financial problems. Sometimes they did not have anything to eat, but they still stick together. Naomi would never asked for a different set of parents then. She was always positive, she did as she was told and even study at home. The little times she attended school, did not bother her, as she was a A+ student even with her absentees. Naomi always tell her mom and dad that one day she will accomplished something good in life and that she will buy her parents a house. She also promised that they will never have another hungry day.
That should made them proud right... Unfortunately, while she holds a bright future ahead of her, her parents had other plans for her.
One day while Naomi was at school, Her father and Mother, David and Rose called Jack over. Jack is a wealthy man.
They had agreed to sold their daughter to Jack and in return Jack will make them wealthy.
MOM, DAD I'M HOME, Naomi shouted cheerfully, like any other day she went to school an came home to greet her parents.
She had always been a cheerful child, even when difficult times showed up.
We're in here honey, her mom called out... Has Naomi entered the kitcken, she couldn't help but wonder why there was a suited man inside their kitchen having conversation with her parents.
She was uncomfortable with it, she felt an uneasy feeling in her stomach, as the man rape her body up and down with his eyes, wearing a smirk that make her very uncomfortable.
Honey we want you to meet Mr. Jack, her dad said.
Naomi looked between her two parents and the suited man, still uncomfortable but confuse at the sametime.
You will be leaving with him, her mother said.
Has if someone had slapped her across her face, Naomi turn her head so fast directing her attentions to her parents. Pain and fear filled her eyes, she was frozen on the spot, words became difficult, as she felt a lump forming in her throat and her eyes filled with tears.
This cannot be What I think it is, she asked out loud. Mom, DAD please tell me that this is not real, she told them. Her mom seems uneasy for a second, a slight regret showed in her eyes, but was quickly masked as her husband and Jack looked at her.
Honey, we need the money. We have no food and the bills are pilled up, we cannot afford to take care of you. Jack is a good man, he promises to take good care of you and treat you well, her mother said.
Naomi father did not showed regret, infact what he said next broke Naomi heart and finally the tears ran down her cheek like a silent river. Naomi, it will be better for us and we won't have to worry about being hungry anymore, our bills will be paid on time and we won't have to worry about how are we suppose to maintain you.
