"Mum" I open my eyes slowly,my heart still beating hard against me from my nightmare,Mum was gone her absence felt daily even after 5 years but the dream kept on coming,her words about never leaving me always the last thing on my mind after each nightmare but Mum was gone and that fact was like a dead hole within me.I get up from my bed and walk towards the shower to prepare for the day and also to leave the house quickly to avoid interactions with my 'dad' and i use the term loosely.

"Morning Father" I say quietly as i come down the stairs,praying within for some peace                              

"Uh huh"Drunk as usual,He mumbles his reply as he grumbles about some stupid thing perhaps,His face glued to whatever sport that was being shown on Tv "When are you expecting this month's salary Pearl? cause I'm in need of some cash" He turns my direction,looking me up and down causing me to shiver in disgust as my stomach does a little flip.....I purposely ignore his question,walking towards the fridge to get some water "Get me a beer from the fridge...
