The parcel that had arrived today, contained an old key and a list of instructions to use it. But first we had to find the building where the flat was. She was abandoned by the family so she spent her life in a modest apartment building, I was told.

Those were hard days for an unmarried mom-to -be. They still are not so easy, but far better nowadays. She was my mom's Bhabi, her late younger brother's wife. Ofcourse, I could never meet her. But when I recieved a call from her lawyer, asking me to meet him urgently, I was intrigued as to why me??!!

I called Mom and she confirmed that I take urgent leave and be present on the designated day. So here we all were, staring at the parcel and the key. Along with it was a couple of simple papers, that you find in registers, single lined for Hindi writing. She had written some instructions for us to be read by me. Among all the cousins, I was intrigued and feeling a bit apprehensive as to why I was the chosen one....!!!
