Three weeks later, Fran and five other students were sitting in their math classroom, eagerly waiting for the teacher to arrive so the test could begin. Fran stared at the clock, counting down the seconds, while his foot nervously tapped the floor. He had prepared for this moment for days, studying with Anja and on his own, but he was still afraid. What if the test was harder than expected? What if his brain froze and he couldn't remember any of the math formulas he had learned? Fran shook his head to dispel those negative thoughts and took a deep breath.
"It's okay, everything will be fine," he said to himself, trying to calm down. Just as he thought that, the door handle of the classroom moved and the teacher walked in. With his slightly round belly and glasses, he confidently walked towards his desk. In his hands, he carried a stack of tests which he placed on the desk once he reached it. He looked at the students, who all looked like scared sheep.
"Did you study?" he asked them, and the five students, including Fran, timidly nodded.
"Good then," the teacher said, and taking the stack of tests in his hand, he began to walk around the classroom. As he handed out the tests, he said, "Good luck. The test isn't difficult, and if you studied, you shouldn't have any problems."
Once Fran received his test, he looked at the first page and the tasks on it. His panic and fear disappeared when he saw the first task, almost identical to the one he had solved with Anja. With immense relief, Fran began to solve it, and then the other tasks. And he was doing really well! Barely 25 minutes had passed since the teacher handed out the tests, and Fran was already on the last task. And when he solved it, that was it. He closed the test and stood up to take it to the teacher. The other four students, who didn't seem to be doing as well judging by their expressions, looked at him in amazement, as did the teacher.
"Fran? Are you sure you want to turn in your test? You still have 15 minutes," the teacher asked him with a somewhat uncertain look. The first time he took the test, Fran barely had a couple of points, and now, he was among the first to finish the test. The teacher was confused but also suspicious, which was understandable. But Fran just smiled and slowly walked towards the teacher, as he intended. He placed the test on his desk, looked at him, and confidently said, "I'm sure."
