Why I Write
Another writer here wrote a poem about why they write. That got me thinking, why do I write?

I could give you the usual answers. For the practice, to make other people feel something, all sorts of reasons. But the primary reason I write is very simple. Because I have to.

I have so many things in my mind and heart that I really can't contain them. I have to write them down to get them out. Otherwise it's too overwhelming. It's cathartic.

I've been blessed with the gift of writing. You have to use the gifts you've been given. I love that I can share what I'm thinking and feeling with others. I love being able to make them laugh or think or whatever it is that my particular piece does.

In real life I'm pretty shy. I would never go around saying all the things I write. But on paper I'm free to express myself however I need to. And it feels wonderful.
