MEN AND SOCIETY
(Guys, hello first of all.
this isn't a story but a mere opinion i thought was important to let out. please read it to the end. this really needs some attention.)
Mard Ko Dard Ho Hi Nahi Sakta!
Staying inside the four pink walls of my room, thinking a real man is always
perfumed with machismo and virility, I stepped outside. I realised, I wasn’t
in a pink walled room for so long, but tied in pink shackles that taught me to
live by chauvinism, patriarchy, misogyny and other argots put up for the
men of society. Until, I saw the tagline of Hero Honda Pleasure - “Why
should boys have all the fun?” really? Were the boys really having fun out
there?
Have you ever seen a man wailing and crying for his mama's brace? Or a man
shivering and trembling when a dog barks at him? The Man's face is always
like the sand at the beach, rough and still as if no water ever touched it, but
who knows there's still a flooded sea that runs deep within him. A man
mustn’t ever cry, always be tough and tall so that girls fall like they are on
banana peels when he walks by. Why must the girls fall though? Gentlemen
are everything but gentle, because the moment a man becomes gentle, in he
loses his masculinity. He must be man enough to be regarded as man, how
much man is manly though? 10 kilograms of man? 12 litres of man? Or a few 9
centimetres of man?
When it’s dark, a man can fear. When his favourite song is played, he can
move to tears, when he sees his sister wed off, he can run and hug her too! A
man can show some emotions… if only our society taught boys to be men.
We live in a society where misogynists dictate women’s lives, and the pseudo-feminists claim that manlihood is expanding multifold.
I once came across this news, “This thingamajig school prohibits girls from
tying their hair into a bun, as the men might get aroused by their necks.” This
headline makes me squirm to the toes! I mean, if you think visible necklines
give trivial arousal to men, why don’t you tell them to come to school blindfolded, because based on the current trends, everything might arouse a
man during his studies. This is so pathetic, just because a person has a weird neck fetish and can’t focus on study, he is out there categorising each
man into this and shaming the whole gender to be of such a cheap mindset.
I am here calling out the Men, its high time to cut this “Manhood” crap,
feel your feelings, scream your anguish to the moon, cry in not less than
rivers. For only by embracing your wholesome humanity -light and dark- can
you discover your true machismo. It’s not always the girls, the women who
are to shout their rights, who are applicable for a #metoo, sometimes it's the
men who have been touched by ‘feminism’ inappropriately, too. Get this word
out, the new era of feminism, the society where “mard ko bhi dard hota hai.”
So, next time a lady bellows you of feminism and slaps you, excuse yourself
two steps towards her, and land a flat palm on her cheek as well, because "feminism is about liberty and equity, not just about advancing the interests
of women at the expense of men." - Emma Watson.
