Hail! Long Live The Queen! ch4
Queen Kehlani stood rooted to the ground, unmoving when they threw the accusations at her. The king was no doubt furious, not at her but at his council, but there was nothing he could do.
The council poked at her every wound and she was already getting fed up by it. She could feel her rage building up and if it was possible they could see the steam blowing out her ears.

"Please!" she commanded silence through gritted teeth, crossing her legs. "Quit your unnecessary yapping!" She snapped.

"what did you just say?" one of them lunged for her but she caught him by the neck, keeping him at arms length and slowly squeezing the air out of him.

"I said shut the fuck up!" she saw from the corner of her eye, The king was smiling in approval. He was obviously enjoying the unfolding drama. "I really don't have to explain my past life to you but my Husband and I already spoke about this if you MUST know" she shrugged "I was human before The king married me and obviously I had a pretty normal life before everything went downside..." a sad look crossed her face but disappeared as quickly as it came "My Fiance and my brother were both killed in a fire. So yes, I HAD a lover and a brother that felt like my own CHILD...is that a crime? is having a family a crime?" she slammed him to the ground like he weighed nothing, knocking him unconscious.

The council looked embarrassed, unable to meet her eyes. it was obvious to Kehlani now that the council didn't relate well with her, they were probably hoping to have her disposed because of her history as a human.
She felt judged by them and that struck a cord in her and she was determined to prove them wrong. She was going to be The Queen and not even balding Old vampires would stop her even if they tried.

"My Lord, May I?" She turned to the King, bowing.

"Thank you, you may leave." he dismissed her with a proud smile. Her heart raced.

"Oh, I almost forgot...about the part where I'm not seated with you all at the Great Table, I don't need a chair and table to make my voice heard...The King is enough for the decision making." she smiled at him and proceeded to walk away.

"You're abusing your power." he tsked and walked out after his woman.

"That was baddass" the king thought aloud to himself. she was the one, he had finally found his woman and she just proved that to him today.
