Shawn sat in the parking lot looking at the big white church building in disbelief.
He was actually about to walk in there...and not for a funeral.
He jumped as there came a light peck on his window; he looked over to see Kelsey's bright smile as she waved.
He gathered his keys and stepped out of his truck, knowing his procrastination was over.
"I'm so glad you made it! This will be fun. I'm excited. You look nice."
He had tried to "dress up" as much as his closet would allow. He had discovered a pair of black dress pants and long sleeved striped shirt.
"Am I going to be kicked out for not wearing a tie?"
"No. Shut up silly."
"You look quite...fancy...a little more professional than my t shirt."
Shawn was trying to keep his eyes level; they wanted to travel down her v neck cut sweater dress to wear just a little honey smooth skin showed from the bottom of her dress to the top of her knee high caramel colored boots.
"I tend to clean up alright. You ready to go in?"
Shawn nodded, not able to find the strength to agree verbally.
"Follow me." Said Kelsey.
As she turned and Shawn followed her through the parking lot towards the towering church with carpeted steps, Shawn found himself unable to keep his eyes upward as her dress swayed just slightly against her toned thighs and nearly missed the first step.
He had to remind himself firmly to pay attention and not behave too much like the heathen he was.
As the big double doors opened, two men inside on each side they were met by a "hey, how are you?" "Nice to see you!" almost every five feet.
Some Kelsey would simply respond, "I'm good, thanks!" While others warranted a quick hug.
A few times she would acknowledge him, saying, "This is my good friend Shawn."
