Ketaki- yes - that's my real name... the real me... the forgotten me ... the meek one... who hid behind Trisha...
My mother had given me that name. It originally was her mother's name. Ketu, she used to called me. When she died, father became engrossed in his grief and completely ignored Ketaki, she was a sad little girl, but Father was sad too. So out came Trisha, a stronger, outgoing, happy girl. She was a fiesty little storm who used to annoy everyone with her pranks. So "get her a new mother and a wife for yourself", many people suggested and so came the new mom. Ketaki came out to welcome the change, she thought things would be just like old times. But Trisha had to protect Ketaki from ever scolding and sneering Pyari mom and dad went ahead and absorbed himself into his job.
When she saw Atharv, the handsome soldier for her, Ketaki had a huge crush on him. But Father reminded her of the social differences between them and packed her off to Chandigarh for higher studies. The broken heart and city crowd was too much for Ketaki, out came Trisha. She went down the slide of cigarettes, alcohol, pubs and boys. She thought she met a boy who had a little resemblance of dear Atharva. But he crushed her when he refused to marry her after having raised her hopes. She lost everything. Even Trisha couldn't take it anymore and tried to end her life.
But Father did the best thing to her, he sent Atharva to see her.
Atharva took her to a house in Delhi. He took great care and she fell in love with him. The caretakers were a very gentle couple, especially the lady, who reminded her of her long lost ma. In this loving, relaxed and secure environment Ketaki came out and enjoyed all the walks, the talks, small fights and the dinners and finally her first kiss with Atharva. He proposed to her and they fixed a date for the wedding.
As she knew, life is never white as snow. Her father came storming into the house one day and started yelling at Atharva and her. He refused to let them marry, Trisha came out to protect Ketaki, she ran out of the house and suddenly a car crashed into her and all went black. She remembered waking up in the hospital and couldn't see herself hurting her father by marrying Atharva. Father now agreed to the wedding, but now Trisha refused. So once she recovered, father got her married to another guy. She didn't even bother to see his face at the registrar's office, he was wearing a groom's sehra. So she came back to Shimla with him.
